Egremont Pipeline
Waitings were honoured to work on an 11 km section of the south Egremont pipeline. The project was part of a large scheme to replenish water to Ennerdale Lake. Works involved pumping water from boreholes at Gully Flats on the top of Egremont and piping through to Ennerdale Lake.
Waitings oversaw the installation of approximately 20km of large diameter Polyethylene pipe and all associated chambers/valves and connections into fields/roads/tracks/open moorland and woodland. Many areas of the installation were in ecologically sensitive places.
The pipeline traverses pasture and arable farmland, close to Florence mine, over the A595 and under the River Ehan (SSSI) with approximately 10-15 smaller consented watercourse crossings.

Waitings covered the project on a fully managed turnkey basis, including route proving, third party liaison, temporary fence erection, pre and post pipeline land drainage, topsoil strip and replacement, and all cultivation and seeding. The pipeline welding, installation of valves and furniture and all pressure testing/commissioning of the pipeline is carried out in-house by our skilled experienced workforce.
